ANCHOR Code of Conduct & Class Etiquette

ANCHOR Code of Conduct & Class Etiquette

At ANCHOR, we take pride in creating a supportive, respectful, and professional environment where everyone feels welcome, safe, and empowered to train hard.
Please take a moment to review our community guidelines below.

Respect & Conduct

Jokes & Language

We love to keep things light and fun — but never at someone else’s expense.
Please refrain from making inappropriate jokes or comments that could make others uncomfortable.

If you ever feel that a line has been crossed, please speak with a coach. They will bring the concern to the owner’s attention.
If the concern involves a coach, please contact Dr. Alli directly and confidentially at dralli@anchorhere.ca.

Touch & Coaching Cues

Physical adjustments can be an important part of learning proper movement patterns.
As coaches, we will always ask for your consent before making any physical corrections.

For example, we may ask permission to adjust your shoulder position during a deadlift to help improve your form.
Inappropriate or unwanted touching of any kind will not be tolerated.

Equipment Care

We invest in high-quality equipment for your training — please help us keep it in great shape:

  • Use larger plates when loading barbells (e.g., one 45 lb plate instead of multiple smaller plates).

  • Do not drop a barbell with less than 15 lb plates on each side — smaller plates can bend or break.

  • Never drop an empty barbell.

  • Do not drop dumbbells or kettlebells unless doing so is necessary for your safety or that of someone nearby.

Following these simple rules helps protect our equipment and keeps your workouts running smoothly.

Class Etiquette

Class Reservations

Please reserve your spot ahead of time. It helps coaches plan class layouts, equipment, and flow to give everyone the best experience possible.

Arriving on Time

Life happens — we get it. But whenever possible, aim to arrive a few minutes early.
This ensures you can hear the full briefing, warm up properly, and keep the class on track.

For safety reasons, doors lock 2 minutes prior to RIDE start time and during morning/weekend HIIT classes.
Arriving late may result in being unable to access class and receiving a no-show or late-cancel on your account.

During the Workout

If you finish before others, please wait until everyone is done before putting your equipment away.
Encourage and cheer for your fellow members — this is what makes the ANCHOR community special.

Welcoming New Members

Remember your first day? Take a moment to welcome someone new, introduce yourself, and help them feel at home.

Workout Briefing

Please keep side conversations to a minimum during the briefing.
This ensures everyone hears important safety cues and workout details.

Lifting Awareness

When someone is lifting (especially Olympic lifts), please avoid walking directly in front of them.
It’s a simple but important way to respect their focus and safety.

Hygiene & Personal Care

A clean, fresh environment starts with all of us.
Please wear deodorant, be mindful of strong scents, and shower regularly — especially after those sweaty sessions.

ANCHOR RIDE Etiquette

Our spin studio runs on energy, rhythm, and respect for your fellow riders. To keep every class running smoothly:

  • Doors lock 2 minutes before class start time. We begin right on schedule, so arrive early to set up your bike and get ready to ride.

  • Bikes are first come, first serve.

  • Limit talking during class. Stay focused on your ride, your rhythm, and your effort.

  • All abilities are welcome. While we coach rhythm-based rides, we encourage everyone to ride at their own level. All we ever expect is that you show up and give your best effort.

Member Conflicts

We’re a community built on mutual respect and positive energy.
If conflicts arise between members — inside or outside of class — please bring your concerns directly to a coach or the General Manager rather than addressing them independently.

Our goal is to ensure all communication remains respectful and that issues are resolved fairly and professionally.
Disrespectful behaviour, gossip, or confrontation will not be tolerated at ANCHOR.

ANCHOR Strike Policy

To maintain a safe, respectful, and consistent environment for all members, ANCHOR follows a three-strike policy for any violations of our Code of Conduct.
This ensures that all concerns are handled fairly, consistently, and with open communication.

Before any strike is issued, the situation will be reviewed and discussed with the individuals involved to ensure understanding and context.

Strike 1: Verbal Discussion & Warning

A coach or manager will meet with the member to discuss the concern, clarify expectations, and review the relevant section of the Code of Conduct.
The goal is education, understanding, and an opportunity to correct the behaviour.

Strike 2: Written Warning

If a similar issue occurs again, a written warning will be issued outlining the concern, required corrective actions, and potential next steps if the behaviour continues.

Strike 3: Membership Termination

If a third violation occurs, the member’s ANCHOR membership will be terminated.
A pro-rated refund will be issued for any unused portion of their membership.

This policy reflects our commitment to maintaining a positive, inclusive, and respectful community where every member — and coach — can feel safe and supported while training.

Thank You

Together, these simple guidelines help preserve the strong, respectful, and uplifting culture that defines ANCHOR.
Thank you for being part of our community — and for helping make this a place where everyone feels safe to show up, work hard, and grow.
